Classes
Anticlastic Forming With the Hydraulic Press
This class will focus on pressing anticlastic forms with the hydraulic press and the Bonney Doon attachments. Process, safety, and maintenance will be addressed. You must have metalworking skills and work between classes to prepare your own projects for pressing. Each week you'll learn a new aspect of the press to explore. Starting with an anticlastic cuff bracelet, we will move into bangles and containers.
Special Notes
- Students must have the knowledge to prepare and finish their projects. Sawing, soldering texturing, filing, and finishing skills are needed. Class time will be focused on learning to form anticlastic forms and use of the hydraulic press. The class will feature demonstrations, then you'll follow up with individual pressings of your prepared blanks. Students will provide their own materials for their chosen projects. Teacher will provide a list with guidelines for recommended metals and gauges. We will have enough 16 gauge copper for each student's first anticlastic cuff.
Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. Please visit visarts.org for more information.
