VisArts Releases Craft + Design Schedule and Begins Pre-Selling Tickets
The Visual Arts Center of Richmond has released the schedule and ticketing information for this year’s Craft + Design Show, which will take place at the Science Museum of Virginia the weekend of Nov. 18-20, 2016.
Craft + Design is a juried contemporary craft show featuring the museum-quality work of 60 nationally and internationally recognized artists. The event is going into its 52nd year and all proceeds benefit the Visual Arts Center of Richmond.
For the first time ever, VisArts is making Patrons’ Preview tickets available to the general public. In previous years, the Friday night party, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m., was open only to VisArts patrons and their guests.
“It’s one of the most popular parties of the year, and we really wanted to be able to open it up to a wider audience,” says Stefanie Fedor, executive director of the Visual Arts Center of Richmond. “The response to this decision has been very positive.”
Patrons’ Preview tickets are $80 for VisArts members and $100 for the general public. VisArts patrons, defined as anyone who gives more than $500 per year to the annual fund, will continue to receive two free tickets to the event, as part of their weekend pass.
Last year, approximately 500 people attended Patrons’ Preview. Guests enjoy beer, wine and hors d’oeuvres and the chance to shop early. This year, the first 250 people to purchase Patrons’ Preview tickets will receive a free, one-year subscription to Richmond magazine and R-Home magazine.
The Rise + Shine Breakfast, which pairs another early shopping opportunity with a light breakfast and mimosas, will run from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19. Tickets are $25 for VisArts members and $30 for the general public.
Regular shopping hours run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Sat., Nov. 19 and Sun., Nov. 20. General admission tickets cost $10. VisArts members receive one or two free general admission tickets, depending on their level of membership.
People who would like to attend multiple events over the course of the Craft + Design weekend should consider purchasing a weekend pass. Weekend passes are $100 for members and $125 for the general public and include a ticket to Patrons’ Preview, a ticket to Rise + Shine and unlimited admission during regular shopping hours.
