Classes
Landscape in Oils
Create compelling landscapes in a series of paintings. Each week, we’ll focus on elements of the landscape including techniques for rendering sky, terrain, trees and water. We’ll also focus on palette development and color mixing. We'll cover seasonal themes and architecture while learning to use light and color to create depth. You'll practice layout and composition using photo references and thumbnail sketches. We’ll learn how to use aerial and chromatic perspectives and create atmosphere, suggesting time of day and weather. Weekly demonstrations will be provided and discussions will include traditional and modern painters with a brief critique. You're welcome to use personal photos or photos provided by the instructor. Plan to finish the class with several small paintings. This class includes techniques for both alla prima and indirect oil painting.
Special Notes
