Classes

WTF (Woman, Trans, Femme) Woodworking: Design Your Own Project (This class is only offered a few times a year!)

This class is a safe space for women, trans, and femme folks to learn introductory woodworking techniques. Students will self-guide their time and projects with Nava as a resource for learning more advanced techniques. Students should have introductory level knowledge and experience using the table saw, mitre saw, jointer, and planer; beginner demos will not be given on these machines. We will respect marginalized identities, be patient with one another, use accessible language, and we won't leave anyone behind.

Special Notes

  • This class is designed for Women, Trans and Femme identifying people. Please choose another class if you do not self-identify with one of these groups. Students must have taken one of Nava's Intro classes. Beginner demos will not be given on table saw, mitre saw, jointer and planner.

A note on the materials fee: The first week of class will be drafting and putting together a shopping list, then the teacher will do a woodcraft run for week 2.

Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.

On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. Please visit visarts.org for more information.
