Art Quilt Studio
Do you want to learn to quilt or change your approach to quilting? We’ll cover contemporary quilt design and technique. You’ll learn about piecing, applique and machine quilting. You’ll leave with a finished wall or lap quilt.
Special Notes
- Supply list will be discussed during the first class. If you have fabric you are thinking of using, please bring it to the first class.
Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. Please visit visarts.org for more information.
About the Instructor
Julia Pfaff
A recent receipt of a Professional Artist Fellowship from the Virginia Museum of Fine Art and with an undergraduate degree in art history and a MFA in textiles, Julia has been quilting her entire life. She is a studio artist and has successfully turned a family tradition into a contemporary art form. She teaches at both the community and college level. Julia’s hand dyed and printed quilts have been exhibited extensively and can be found in numerous national publications and collections. During class you can ask her about working in Egypt, Greece, and Jordan as an archaeological technical artist.
