Classes

Found, Collaged, Erased + Reassembled Poetry

This weekend workshop will explore ways to get out of our heads and into the world for inspiring new entry points into poems. Students look at examples of poems that use materials, scraps, art, visual cues, collage, erasure, and interesting forms/constraints to see what kinds of multi-textual poems we can make. They will be guided through discussion, examples, several prompts, and light group-sharing (not traditional critique) to build a small and supportive weekend community so more possibilities for making open up and feel doable, playable, experimental, and outside our usual comfort zones. It’s possible you could leave with three surprising new poem drafts to work with, in just twodays!
