Mono Printing Images / Digital Images on Fabric New!

Beginner/Intermediate

In this two night series, students will discover two methods for creating beautiful textiles that can be used in a variety of ways. The first night we will focus on using thickened dyes to create paintings on Plexi-glass that will then be printed onto white cotton fabric. Using daubs and swishes of thickened dye and a variety of tools to draw back into the dye will create a unique piece that can be combined with other fabrics in home accessories or art wear. In the second night students will bring in objects to create a digital still life using an ink jet printer/ scanner. Things like photos, jewelry, buttons, fabrics, feathers, and other fairly thin objects are scanned onto treated cotton fabric. Students will also be encouraged to bring in their own digital photography in JPG format on a Zip Drive. These images can be loaded into the instructor’s laptop and printed onto fabric as well. If you have Photoshop images save them as JPG’s. Images are washable without the plastic feel of iron-on methods.

Silk Painting

Beginner/Intermediate

In this two night series, students will learn two forms of silk painting. In the first night students explore the Serti Method of silk painting, making a linear design on a silk scarf using resist.
