Legacy Society
The Visual Arts Center’s Legacy Society recognizes members and friends who demonstrate their commitment to the visual arts by including VACR in their estate plans. Through their foresight and generosity, these individuals play a key role in laying a sound foundation for VACR and ensuring its growth and success for future generations.
Members of the Legacy Society will receive invitations to VACR events and exhibition openings. They are acknowledged, with their permission, in VACR publications.
Estate Planning
Before considering a planned gift, please first contact your attorney. If you do not have an attorney, ask for referrals from friends and family or your local bar association. Sit down with your family and set out the goals that you would like to accomplish through your estate planning.
Making a Bequest
The most straightforward way to make a planned gift to the Visual Arts Center of Richmond is by including us in your will.
Types of bequests:
- A fixed sum of money or a designated property - it may be art, insurance, stock, or the like.
- A percentage of the total value of your estate
- The residue (what’s left over) from your estate once all other bequest have been made
- A secondary or contingent bequest - should a loved one predecease you.
Language for making a bequest
To include the Visual Arts Center in your will, or to include it in an amendment (or codicil) to your existing will, we suggest you use the following language according to the type of donation you would prefer to give:

Percentage of Your Estate
I give, devise, and bequeath to the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, located at 1812 W. Main Street, Richmond, VA 23220 the ___(Percentage)% of my estate.
Property
I give, devise, and bequeath to the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, located at 1812 W. Main Street, Richmond, VA 23220 (a description of the property).
Residue
I give, devise, and bequeath to the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, located at 1812 W. Main Street, Richmond, VA 23220 all the residue of my estate, including real and personal property.
