Classes for Home-Schooled Students:
Black & White Darkroom Photography
Ages 10 - 15
In this comprehensive photography course you will use a 35mm camera and the darkroom to explore your photographic vision. There will be field trips throughout the class and the opportunity to photograph outside of class as you develop your own photographic style to begin building a portfolio. The course includes lessons in basic camera operations, and we will discuss the aesthetic aspects of composition, timing, and subject matter. Students will learn to print images using traditional darkroom techniques. Students will need a 35mm camera. There is an additional $30 materials fee which includes film, processing, paper, and chemistry.

Cartooning
Ages 8 - 12
Students at any drawing level will learn to create their own cartoon characters and stories as they explore drawing methods used by professional cartoonists.

Creative Writing
Ages 10 - 15
In this class, words and imagination strike sparks. Prompts, pictures, objects, and readings, as well as experiments with form and genre, will offer new approaches to imaginative writing. We will invent freely and revise fruitfully - good writing requires both. Students will receive strong encouragement and practical help in a warm and informal atmosphere. Please bring a favorite piece of poetry or prose, whether your own or someone else's. We will write and share our work through public readings and a literary magazine.
